How to get a color from an image

Upload a JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF image and click the exact area you want to inspect. The tool reads the selected pixel in the browser and reports both its HEX value and its RGB channels. It then compares that RGB color with the reference color collections available on this website to show nearby color names and paint standards.

HEX, RGB and paint matches from a photo

HEX and RGB describe the pixel stored in the digital image. Pantone, RAL, NCS and other named references are nearest RGB matches, not instrument-certified paint measurements. Camera processing, display calibration, lighting, material texture and color profiles can all change how a real object is represented in a photo.

The uploaded image path and selected position are stored in the URL, so the current selection can be shared while that temporary upload is retained. Uploaded files are automatically removed on a rolling basis to avoid filling the server.
